The West Cabarrus YMCA at Afton Village has announced its emembership has exceeded 11,000 members.

The facility, opened in 2003, includes two indoor swimming pools, a full size gymnasium, an indoor climbing wall, and aerobics and fitness area and has recently added a steam room and sauna, increased its cardio exercise equipment, introduced personal viewing screens on some new equipment, and added more group exercise classes.

The branch has also increased services by adding a youth swim team, a climbing team, and adding a new youth fitness center called the Youth Fit Zone.Featured classes include Pilates, different styles of yoga and aerobics, spinning and swimming.

Cannon Memorial YMCA is the association of three YMCAs in Cabarrus County; its three locations are Kannapolis, West Cabarrus and its newest addition in Harrisburg.
