Modern Eye Care Brings Next-Level Care Standards To Afton Village Medical Community

Afton Village is expanding its medical professional community with the addition of Modern Eye Care. Partners Dr. James Harris and Dr. Dustin Reece hosted a grand opening reception and ribbon cutting on January 17th attended by Concord Mayor Scott Padgett and the Chamber of Commerce.

Reece and Harris’s shared passion for a higher standard of patient care, deep commitment to the belief that eye care is vital to the overall health of the individual and parallel experience with education, field work, and residency in veterans’ hospitals made them a natural fit. Explains Harris, “We met on the lecture circuit and immediately found we had a lot in common. We kept crossing paths, and when we both ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina we knew that the office was meant to happen. Then we found the perfect space in Afton Village. It was a no brainer.”

The partners’ vision for Modern Eye Care includes state-of-the-art equipment, including retinal cameras and computerized visual field testing. The practice also offers the most advanced vision correction in lenses and contacts for comfort, style and ocular health. Their commitment to offering a modern office also includes paperless records, and participation in most common medical and vision insurance programs.

Modern Eye Care’s most cutting edge distinction is Harris and Reece’s practice philosophy. Explains Harris, “Eyes are truly the window to the health of the individual. By insisting on the highest level of preventative care, by being 100 percent engaged with our client’s health history, environment and assessments, and offering suggestions on maintaining the best overall health through eye care, we treat our patients thoroughly with a very integrated approach.”

Because of this, Modern Eye Care is particularly attractive to young families. Says Harris, “Many ocular conditions, such as amblyopia (‘lazy eye’) can be best treated when caught early. We recommend children have an assessment and wellness check early, rather than waiting for problems to become pronounced.”

Dr. Harris and Reece are both Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry, and in addition to their medical education have had extensive field experience. Their residencies, mission work and continued commitment to staying abreast of the latest research and technology hallmarks their practice, as does their commitment to the health and comfort of their patients.

“The bottom line is that our experience has created an incredible desire to help people see better, feel better and live better. Our eyes are a huge part of how we experience the world, as well as an indicator of wellness elsewhere in the body. We look forward to developing deep relationships in the community and providing an extraordinary level of care and service,” concludes Dr. Reece.
