 Directions to Afton Village

Afton Village is National Model for Convenience and Charm

As the area north of Charlotte grows from sleepy towns and farmland into suburbs and shopping centers, the quest for charm, quality and access from a home is challenging.

Which is why Afton Village, a mixed-use community of homes and businesses, outdoor plazas and greens, a YMCA and 60-acre park system, small restaurants and specialty shops, has become so popular.

Afton Village's high-end custom homes, unique carriage homes, Charleston-style front porches and garden townhouses offer a colorful spectrum of home choices. This residential component is balanced with a unique retail and commercial environment which makes living within the development convenient and fun. And Afton Village also boasts speedy access to Charlotte's most winsome attractions.

Center City Charlotte is just down Interstate-85 and can be reached in a mere 20 minutes from the Afton Village entrance. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is also only 15 minutes down the interstate.  The University of North Carolina at Charlotte can be reached in under ten minutes, as can major medical centers, and various entertainment options like Lowe's Motor Speedway, Concord Mills Mall, Lake Norman and University City are within 5-15 minutes each.

Since the Afton Village project began in 1998, it has matured into a model of beauty and efficiency for homeowners and businesses alike. By pairing emphasis on charm and quality as well as vitality and access, the development has become a standard-bearer for communities across the nation.

Modern Eye Care Brings Next-Level Care Standards To Afton Village Medical Community

Afton Village is expanding its medical professional community with the addition of Modern Eye Care. Partners Dr. James Harris and Dr. Dustin Reece hosted a grand opening reception and ribbon cutting on January 17th attended by Concord Mayor Scott Padgett and the Chamber of Commerce.

Reece and Harris’s shared passion for a higher standard of patient care, deep commitment to the belief that eye care is vital to the overall health of the individual and parallel experience with education, field work, and residency in veterans’ hospitals made them a natural fit. Explains Harris, “We met on the lecture circuit and immediately found we had a lot in common. We kept crossing paths, and when we both ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina we knew that the office was meant to happen. Then we found the perfect space in Afton Village. It was a no brainer.”

Afton Village Restaurants:
Full Menu, Great Taste

Two new restaurants have joined the diverse menu of Afton Village's culinary offerings.

Max's Ally - A Dressler Restaurant
Max's Ally: A Dressler Restaurant

Max’s Ally, a upscale-casual eatery owned by Jon Dressler of highly-regarded Dressler’s Restaurant in Birkdale Village is now serving great taste to local diners and foodies. The 5,000 square foot restaurant located in the center of Afton Village is the largest restaurant in the village, offering a high-end menu, a relaxed and casual atmosphere, and is welcoming to families and serious diners alike. Max’s Ally (named after Dressler’s two children) offers over 125 wines, steaks, ribs, chicken, seafood, pasta, entree salads, a children's menu, a generous appetizer selection and a full bar.

Max's Ally - A Dressler Restaurant

The most distinctive design element of Max’s Ally is its thoughtfully-created outdoor areas, including a water feature in the entry, and intimate dining pavilion with a stone patio that can be cordoned off for live entertainment in the summer months. Says Afton Village developer, David Mayfield, “The restaurant was intentionally designed to create a thoughtful outdoor dining experience, with covered and open areas, a stone fireplace and extensive landscaping. It is also unusual in that the outdoor capacity rivals that of the indoor seating.”

Owner Jon Dressler is excited to see the restaurant opening its doors in the exploding Concord area, "We are excited to offer a nice environment, great food, friendly service and local ownership of an upscale restaurant in Concord. The area is beautiful, and growing rapidly, and we look forward to welcoming everyone."

Joe's Sports Bar

Joe’s Sports Bar fills another desire for Afton Village residents and their Concord neighbors, a local gathering place to meet for casual conversation or to satisfy a sports fix. Joe’s boasts “the best sports coverage around,” with a massive amount of pay per view channels and HD flat screen televisions to sate the appetite of any sports fan.

Joe’s is also about bringing people together. “Joe’s gives customers that warm, comfortable place to watch the game on a Sunday afternoon, or to meet friends after work for a beer and some wings. It is cozy, familiar, and easy,” says Afton Village’s Event Coordinator, Raegan Brogdon. Joe’s Sports Bar is easy visible from George W. Liles Parkway, and beckons with a full bar, and pub food.

Afton Village has a history of attracting a variety of quality eating establishments, many boasting international flair. One of the first restaurants making Afton its home was authentic Greek eatery, 'The Gateway to Athens' owners Scott and Rika Gould lived in Greece for seventeen years and interpret national dishes like souvlaki, moussaka, gyros, and tzatzki to perfection.

E Noodles Asian Bistro

'E Noodles,' an Asian Bistro and Martini Bar, hoisted its bright red patio umbrellas to serve traditional fare from spicy Pad Thai, to light glass noodles served with shrimp and cilantro, to bold Udon noodle bowls. The menu offers Dim Sum, soups, salads, and noodle plates alongside heartier entrees like Mandarin Pork Chops, Pan Seared Grouper and Shallot Tenderloin.

The Wine Room offers unique wines, light snacks and greart conversation in an entertaining atmosphere. The Ground Floor Coffee House caters to the morning rush, offering eye-opening coffees, muffins, bagels, biscotti and deli sandwiches for lunch.

And for those times when only a real burger will do, BackYard Burgers offers a down home basic burger, or a burger dressed to the nines. Salads, sandwiches and mammoth baked potatoes are also available.

Whether it is on the run, a business luncheon or an evening out, Afton Village entertains every palate with its restaurant choices. Says Raegan Brogdon, “We are so excited about Max’s Ally and Joe’s Sports Bar. They are exactly what Afton needs to complete the puzzle of a well-rounded retail community.”

Major Retailers - Up the Road; Out of Sight

Just 2 minutes away, ease and access to many major retailers has blossomed just over Interstate-85.

Now, Afton Village residents can benefit from the convenience of having Super Target for everything from gourmet groceries to birthday gifts, Best Buy for appliance and entertainment needs, a Dick's Sporting Goods for fitness and fun, and even a PetSmart for furry family members.

And what's more, these major shopping anchors and the smaller stores in the centre are perfectly located for insularity as well as ease. Since the retail area is across the interstate from Afton Village, traffic and even the buildings themselves are hidden from view.

At Afton Village, we have prided ourselves on offering the access and amentities of a major market, with the charm and character of a small town community. At Afton, the best just got better!

Custom Single Family Homesites...Only A Few Remain!

As Afton Village enters its eighth year of crafting custom homes in Concord, we are counting down final homesites designated for large single family homes. Several of these prime lots front James Dorton Park or align next to the park. At Afton Village, custom building means custom building - and we also make the process easy for the buyer. Our onsite team will help you select a homesite, a builder, and a house plan that fits your style and personality. A myriad of plans from top architects in traditional design are available for review or you may assist the builder with designing your own plan. It is a rewarding experience to witness your home "come to life" and to know that it is like no other in your neighborhood! We take pride that in Afton Village - no two homes are exactly alike, and our residents take pride in being part of a new vision for the community.

The West Cabarrus YMCA

The West Cabarrus YMCA at Afton Village includes many of the amenities traditionally found in YMCAs, but also offers a number of exciting, new facilities. This branch includes two indoor swimming pools, a full size gymnasium, an indoor climbing wall, and aerobics and fitness area. Featured classes include: Pilates, yoga, cycling, aerobics, and swimming.
