Mayfield, developer of Afton Village, a traditional neighborhood
development in Concord, was recently selected to join the Board
of Directors for the National Town Builders Association (NTBA),
a national organization for real estate development professionals
motivated by the New Urbanist principles of smart growth. The
organization is committed to the successful development of neighborhoods
that are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable.
The new board met earlier this year in Washington D.C. to discuss
the needs of developers and builders of smart growth communities.
Other board members include developers from notable smart growth
communities such as Haile Plantation, Florida and Habersham, South
Carolina. Mayfield is the sole North Carolina representative on
the NTBA board.
In addition to his work with NTBA, Mayfield has also begun to
provide development consulting and market research/analysis services
to a select group of clients throughout the East Coast, in conjunction
with The Conservation Fund out of Arlington, VA. The Conservation
Fund works with public and private partners to conserve America's
natural landscapes and cultural heritage. Mayfield has been contracted
to evaluate and advise potential smart growth developments in
Asheville, North Carolina, Chestertown Maryland, Sundance, Utah,
and Vienna, Maryland.
