PARTY ON THE PLAZA
First Friday of Month, April thru October - Community Invited!
|
Afton
Village Merchant's Association welcomes neighbors into Afton Village for "Party on the Plaza," a great chance to enjoy live music from great local bands, food vendors and entertainment
for the kids like moonbounces and facepainting.
Afton's restaurants and patios open up for the "Party on the Plaza" the first Friday of each summer
month to showcase the Village shops and plaza, as well as to provide
an opportunity for families in neighborhood and the surrounding community to socialize. |

The music, food and fun at Party on The Plaza makes summer even more special for residents and community members. |

| SUMMER CONCERTS
ON THE GREEN |
Summer Concerts on the Village Green are a great way to spend warm summer evenings in Afton Village. The evening
typically kicks off with kids
playing leapfrog, friends sharing fondue, couples dancing and
some even singing along!
It is a great time meet neighbors, spend time outside with friends and family, and to join others in the community to relax, socialize, dine and dance
on our beautiful Village Green.

FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION |
Thanks to
everyone who attended our Fourth of July Party on the Village
Green! We appreciate all of the wonderful dishes and desserts
that everyone contributed (kudos to the broccoli casserole and
chocolate cake)!
In addition to socializing with friends and neighbors,
these gatherings provide new residents the opportunity to experience
the relaxed life of Afton Village and to meet their new community.
The music set the perfect background for an easygoing afternoon of food,
friends, and fun.
Children in the Village also participated
in the "Decorate Your Bike or Wagon in a Patriotic Theme"
contest...all were winners, not to mention adorable...a hard time to be a judge! |

| ANNUAL 5K BUNNY RUN |
Who knew?
The Annual 5K Bunny Run started out as an Easter fundraiser for the City of Concord's
Youth Council turned into a tremendous Easter Festival/5-K Run/Easter
Egg Hunt with climbing wall, co-sponsored by the Parks and Rec Department, Afton Village
and the YMCA with an estimated 3,000 attendants.
During the race, there are games, prizes,
Easter eggs, face painting, hat making, tug-of-war, costumes, music, laughter and lots and lots of children.
Afton Village offers the Bunny Run as a wonderful celebration of community spirit, and a great way to spend time with family and friends. |
The 1st Annual Bunny Run featured a climbing wall. |

| MERCHANT GRAND OPENINGS |
At Afton Village, our merchant community is constantly growing with new and diverse products and services.
We celebrate Grand Openings to give the shop owner a chance to showcase their new space, meet the neighbors and offer special savings to the community.
Many of the events offer food, music, and a ribbon cutting with members of the Concord Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor. So be on the lookout for the newest merchant coming soon. |

Customers
talk with Solace's owner about the services and
products she has planned for her new day spa. One lucky customer
gets a massage demo. |

| NEIGHBORHOOD
YARD SALE & AFTERNOON PICNIC |
There's strength in numbers! Afton Village neighbors banded together for a neighborhood yard sale that attracted bargain hunters in droves. Residents displayed their wares, made a few dollars, and decided to make a party of it!
Burgers and brats kept the amateur sales force at bay, and shoppers had a wonderful time meeting and enjoying the friendly community at Afton Village.
Community Yard Sales are scheduled at special times coordinated by the neighborhood association. We'll keep you posted for the dates of the next event. |

| CHRISTMAS
TREE LIGHTING |
|
Our annual Holiday Celebration and Christmas Tree Lighting
Ceremony created excitement for the
holiday season. Santa Claus was on hand to hear Christmas lists
from many of our youngest residents and was kind enough to let
some of the adults sit on his lap, as well. Christmas carols by
the Concord High School Jazz Ensemble set the perfect tone for
the afternoon. The horse drawn carriage rides were a fun way to
see our neighborhood and its holiday decorations. And applause
to everyone who brought cookies to share with their fellow neighbors!
The two philanthropies
chosen this year were highly successful. 128 cans of food were
collected for donation to those in need. Our "adopted family"
greatly appreciated the holiday certificate of $365 to help out
this Christmas. Thanks to everyone who shared in the holiday spirit! |
